Kaisho No Mori 海上の森
This is another woods I like to go to, about a thirty minute drive from my house in the hills of Seto, Japan. When the Expo came to Japan in 2005, the original plan was to use some of the land in this area for the expo grounds, but after many complaints from the locals, the land was mostly preserved. Kaisho No Mori has many trails, and I have only explored maybe two thirds of it. It doesn't boast stunning mountain ranges or towering forests or majestic waterfalls, but it's easy to get to, usually not very crowded, and fairly extensive. On this day, once I got off of the main trail, I only saw one other old man over the three hours or so I spent exploring. Lacking dramatic features, taking photographs in Kaisho No Mori requires patience and an eye for the subtle. Mainly I hoped to convey some of the quiet I felt there, and how there is much to see once you slow down and get down low enough to see it.
