In May I did a photo shoot with the lovely and talented dancer, Madoka. This time, she brought her son and husband along for an early summer photo shoot in the park. It was my first time to meet her husband, Takuma. He was friendly and funny and very photogenic, as was her son, Natsume. With a family like this, I find I don't need to give much direction. I suggested a few locations, and basically just let them enjoy family time together. I used my 70-200mm lens for the long candid shots, and my 50mm for the close, personal shots. I like to take long shots because I can be unobtrusive and wait for the special moments, but I also like to get close and interact with the family, so this combination works well for me. It was also a pleasure to get to spend time with this nice, young family. Madoka is a dance instructor and Takuma is a hair stylist. Their dream is to be self-employed and buy a work space they can use as a dance studio/beauty salon. I wish them all the best.
